Workshop for Actors

DATE: November 24-25, 2017

PLACE:

Max Reinhardt Seminar

University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna – MDW (Austria)

HOSTED BY: Giuseppe Ravì, Founder and Master Coach of Respiro e Movimento®

WORKSHOP:

Respiro e Movimento® is pleased to announce a Workshop for Actors at Max Reinhardt Seminar, University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.

Actors will have the opportunity to work with Giuseppe Ravì, Master Coach and expert in restoring the natural balance and harmony in the human body. The main objective of his workshop is for artists to achieve a deeper connection with themselves.

They will become aware of unnecessary muscular tensions which prohibit the overall ease required in acting.

The result is clear: an overall freedom and strengthening of the essential body movements which enable the artist to physically surpass obstacles which may seem impossible. Actors will learn how to overcome useless contractions and muscle memory, allowing them to feel more centered and act in a more natural, light, free and efficient way.

Check out the testimonials here.

Sterling K. Brown on Becoming an Actor

September 26, 2017 By Respiro E Movimento · Follow us: Facebook · Twitter · Instagram · YouTube

Sterling K Brown

Brown didn’t initially pursue acting as a career. It took more encouragement from others to convince him that this was the right path for him. He continues, “I go to Stanford and I’m an economics major, not thinking I’m going to do anything with acting. A professor came to the dorm where I lived looking for people to audition for an August Wilson play, Joe Turner’s Come And Gone. I gave it a shot, got one of the lead roles in the play. He said, ‘Look, I know you’re not looking to major in this, but you should keep auditioning. I think you could have some fun with it, and the department would benefit from your presence.’ Every time I’d do a play, my grades would get better because I was doing something that fed my soul. It took me a couple of years to recognize that the hobby was actually the calling.”

‘Stranger Things’ Star Shannon Purser on Getting Cast as Barb

September 25, 2017 By Respiro E Movimento · Follow us: Facebook · Twitter · Instagram · YouTube

Shannon Purser

Purser reveals that Stranger Things was the first time casting directors took her seriously — and it has obviously changed her life. She explains, “I was about 15 when I decided that acting was what I wanted to pursue professionally. I’d been doing theater since I was a kid and signed with an agency, and I’d gotten familiar with doing auditions. I had never booked anything, gotten close calls, and then one day I got an email about this new show called Stranger Things, asking for a tape. I taped my audition, had a really fun time doing it and sent it in, but didn’t really think anything would come of it until they said they wanted me to come in and read for the Duffer Brothers. That’s when I really auditioned for the first time. They emailed me that night and said I’d gotten the part, which was the craziest day of my life.”

Interview: Jonathan Cohen, Conductor & Artistic Director

September 22, 2017 By Respiro E Movimento · Follow us: Facebook · Twitter · Instagram · YouTube

Jonathan Cohen

How exactly do you see your role? Inspiring the players/singers? Conveying the vision of the composer?

You have to consider many things. Conducting is essentially a group leader role. You have to create the space for talented individuals to be able to do their finest work. Sometimes just allowing them the space for their own inspiration is the best course of action. Casting, enabling, and then solving problems when needed I’d say. Certainly my vision of the music is central but like everything, a good concert is the marriage of those ideas with the personalities that are involved in the creative process together.
