Royal Opera Ballet

The Royal Opera House is to link up with Facebook on World Ballet Day 2016 for the longest broadcast ever shown on the social media platform.

For World Ballet Day Live, now in its third year, the Royal Ballet will broadcast live rehearsals and classes alongside pre-recorded footage including backstage preparations.

The event, which is live-streamed continuously for 20 hours, is a collaboration between five leading international companies, including the Australian Ballet, the Bolshoi Ballet, the National Ballet of Canada and San Francisco Ballet, alongside the Royal Ballet.

5 YouTube Tips For Actors

September 13, 2016 By Respiro E Movimento · Follow us: Facebook · Twitter · Instagram · YouTube

1. Create a content strategy.

Every minute, 300 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube. How do you rise above the noise? The first step is planning!

2. Make awesome videos.

I get help with my weekly videos from my videographer, Gregg Monteith. Who do you know with great equipment? Here are the other videographers I endorse in L.A. and NYC.

3. Create a custom thumbnail.

This video thumbnail is paramount. It’s the first impression of your content—whether I discover it through an email, search result, or suggested video. By default, YouTube offers you three thumbnail options. However, I’d suggest you go pro and make your own.

4. Write an awesome headline.

Use key words and strong language to draw your audience in. It’s not all about grabbing attention and interest—you’re creating a magnet for the right audience and need to fulfill! Headlines should truly reflect what’s contained in the video content.

5. Fill out the meta data.

Be sure to fill out a description of the video. Include a link to your website in the first few sentences so people can learn more about you. In the meta data or keywords section, be sure to help Google pair you with your audience by using relevant keywords for your video.

7 Hashtag Tips For Musicians

August 15, 2016 By Respiro E Movimento · Follow us: Facebook · Twitter · Instagram · YouTube

1. Use relevant hashtags

You’re allowed 30 hashtags per post (that means caption and comments combined), but just because youcan use 30, doesn’t mean you should. Filling up your hashtag quota with irrelevant hashtags won’t help you in the long run. In fact, it may end up hurting you.

2. Don’t cave into spammy hashtags

Avoid the temptation to use spammy hashtags like #f4f (follow for follow), #follow, #s4s (share for share), and #l4l (like for like). You may end up getting likes or follows from these initially, but you’ll be attracting the wrong audience.

3. Add hashtags to a comment

Adding even just a few hashtags to your image caption can look a little spammy, and if you have more than 10, it can get downright annoying for fans. People are there to engage with your content, and these hashtags can make things look fake and overly promotional.

4. Utilize the Explore page

Instagram’s Explore page is going to be your best friend when it comes to discovering effective hashtags. The first method is to use the search bar to find some potential hashtags. Not only will this tell you how popular certain hashtags are, but it will also give you some suggestions for related hashtags.

5. Learn from other artists

The next method is to look at the hashtag sets that other similar artists use to get some ideas. Target other bands and musicians who play a similar style to you and scroll through their posts. Just like before, if you see a promising hashtag, click through and see what kind of posts are tagged to it.

6. Use hashtags to connect

For the most part, hashtags are used as an inbound way to attract fans, but on Instagram, I’ve found that some of your best followers will actually be other musicians. In fact, these fellow artists may actually lead to more growth on your account than anything else.

7. Test your hashtags

You’re not going to just happen on the perfect set of hashtags in one go. Instead, experiment, and use an analytics app to figure out which work best.

Top 13.5 Tips for Mastering Social Media as a Successful Appearing Actor!

June 24, 2016 By Respiro E Movimento · Follow us: Facebook · Twitter · Instagram · YouTube

  1. Re-tweet everything Lin-Manuel Miranda tweets so that to your followers it appears that you and the creator of HAMILTON are besties.
  2. Your life is your art. Hashtag every social media post with “#actorslife”: Your new haircut. Your spin class. Your chlamydia prescription, etc…
  1. Posting inspiring quotes or memes is a great way to publicize, “I may not be working, but I’m working on myself as an artist.”
  1. Leverage Timehop to your advantage: Always repost pictures of you with that one successful person from your BFA class, even if you two haven’t spoken since your Freshman GoFundMe indie.
  2. Post a picture of your celebrity doppelgänger so that people will associate you with success. (Rising star points if your aunt comments, “How pretty you look!”)
  1. Be vague with theatrical credits. What is “Off Broadway?” Anything that’s not Broadway, of course. (Your TONY surely awaits at the Shubert if you add to your name “The King / Queen of Broadway.”)
  1. Take selfies before lighting equipment on every film set you pass through regardless of whether you’re working on that set, and then plaster on your timeline(s) those falsies. (Bonus points for bringing your own Tupperware and stealing lunch from “Krafty.”)
  2. Share ALL your callbacks! Not getting a callback? Share someone else’s! Association = Stardom.
  3. Don’t post your headshots all at once. Post a new angle, once a month, so that no one ever forgets how good David Noles (or how expensive Peter Hurley) made you look.
  4. Share a link to your website whenever cosmetic updates are made. Occasionally changing the background colors on your website will trick people into thinking you’re more successful than sitting alone in your apartment changing the colors on your website.
  5. A status about sharing an elevator with a celebrity is sure to impress your mom’s book club friend Ellen! (You’re so close to stardom!)
  6. Every time you complete a project, no matter how minuscule, write a lengthy post about how much it meant to you! Think of it as practice for your Oscar speech.
  7. Posting, “Without ______ I wouldn’t be where I am today” is a great way to imply that you are somewhere.

13.5 When feeling deprived of career momentum post the vague, “I HAVE NEWS!” and then wait and watch for the notifications to ramp up. “Likes” = substantial success!

Why Every Writer Should Be Active On Social Media?

June 8, 2016 By Respiro E Movimento · Follow us: Facebook · Twitter · Instagram · YouTube

There is no question that in 2016, anyone who wants to be hired for anything, from writing to acting to plumbing, should be marketing themselves online (because if you’re not, someone else is).  But for writers specifically, there’s additional value in tweets and posts.

Cuz you know what writing a tweet is?  It’s writing.

Because if you entertain, educate or inspire people online (or even better, all three), they’ll be even more excited about seeing you or your show in person.
