Nino Machaidze Brings Vocal Beauty To Rossini’s ‘The Siege Of Corinth’

Nino Machaidze

After nine years of an immensely successful career, Nino Machaidze has forged a unique path that has led her to stand out in not only the war horses in the operatic canon but also in rare operas.

This week she continues to her set herself apart as Machaidze makes her role debut as Pamira in “Le siège de Corinthe” at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro. It’s a role that Beverly Sills famously took on at the Metropolitan Opera and one that is known for its coloratura demands as well as its long lyric lines.

Corey Hawkins on Using His Classical Training in Television and Film Roles

August 7, 2017 By Respiro E Movimento · Follow us: Facebook · Twitter · Instagram · YouTube

Corey Hawkins

Hawkins explains how having a background as a trained classical actor helps when performing roles that are very different from the material commonly found in classical stage acting:

Doing action on television, you have to learn to take language that isn’t as complex sometimes and doesn’t have these long, flowery speeches that ebb and flow…you have to learn how to lift that language and take it and create full characters from these little blurbs, these little bits. It moves so fast that you have to be as full as possible. I think the training helps you do that and, for me, that’s kind of what I’ve been relying on. I think having a classical background in theatre definitely compliments that because you have those tools ready to go. At Juilliard we didn’t put names to techniques. We knew what it was, but we didn’t say,”We’re going to use this technique and that technique.” They were tools and we looked at them as a roadmap. If you know where you’re going, then you don’t need a map, but for the 90 percent of the time that you’re not feeling inspired as an actor and not having that magic moment where it all comes together, then that’s when you have to pull the techniques.

5 Quick Things To Give Your Music Career a Boost

TIP 1: Branding.

Now is the time to do a sweeping update of your social media accounts and website to make sure they reflect what you want and who you are.

TIP 2: Pitching.

TIP 3: Engagement.

Build relationships online by commenting on others’ posts, asking questions about your followers to learn more about them, sharing others’ content, and replying to anything positive.

TIP 4: Money.

Once you get a clear number of the AVERAGE you spend per month and the average you NEED, you’ll be able to get clear on how much you want to generate. Spoiler alert: it may in fact be lower than you think!

TIP 5: Getting It Done.

Do you have a task on your list that is always getting pushed back? Procrastination is one of the biggest barriers to a musician’s success. The fix? Break your big tasks down into specific micro-tasks.

Ted Danson Doesn’t Need to Know His Characters Backstory

August 4, 2017 By Respiro E Movimento · Follow us: Facebook · Twitter · Instagram · YouTube

Ted Danson

Danson admits that he hasn’t created an explanation as to why his character is so evil. He reveals, “Because this world is so complicated and comes from Mike’s imagination and the writers that it would be kind of pointless to go off on your own. Backstories are fun, but only matter if they can impact your performance. When you know the beginning, middle, and end, then a backstory can be helpful. But on this show, you’re constantly walking in with a new script with a new backstory and a new revelation on who you are. You’re constantly discovering.”

Interview: Jack Spann, Vocalist And Multi-Instrumentalist

August 4, 2017 By Respiro E Movimento · Follow us: Facebook · Twitter · Instagram · YouTube

Jack Spann

What do you consider to be the most important ideas and concepts to impart to aspiring musicians?

I would say, if you are an instrumentalist, you must practice at least four hours a day, for a period of 3-4 years, until you decide where your career may lie, or not lie. You need to find a support network of people whom you trust. If you’re a composer, you must formally compose 3-4 hours per day. That’s the rule- PLAY. But remember that “playing” an instrument is similar to “playing” when you are a child – you will get bruised, you will get hurt. It might even kill you. That’s why PRACTICE is essential, the more you PRACTICE the less likely you are to be hurt when you PLAY.
