As a musician, what is your definition of success?
Feeling that the audience can find their own pictures and emotions in my playing and that I touched their hearts. Also, I love the idea of giving a performance that might be my last one so I would take more risks. It’s more exciting than playing everything “perfectly”.
What do you consider to be the most important ideas and concepts to impart to aspiring musicians?
Reaching beyond what is written in the score in order to bring composer’s ideas to live. And as Menahem Pressler says perform as if “ your life depends on it! ”

Someone Imagined How Pop Stars Would Look Today If They Were Still Alive
1. Bob Marley. Reggae music’s most influential artist passed away on May 11, 1981, aged 36. He would be 73 years old today.
2. John Lennon. Founder of the Beatles, influential songwriter and pioneer for peace, John Lennon, was murdered on December 8, 1980, at the age of 40. He would be 77 years old today.
3. Elvis Presley. The King of Rock and Roll passed away on August 16, 1977, aged 42. If he was alive today, he’d be 83.

Lena Waithe On Acting
Waithe’s advice to actors going on an audition is to understand that what makes you unique might be the missing “it factor” that the casting directors and creators might not know that they’re missing. She reveals, “Bring whatever you have to the role, rather than trying to fit into whatever that role is because you are going to be like everybody else that come in for the role that day and you aren’t going to stand out. For Aziz and Alan, they were like, ‘We kind of like your take on what this is, because you obviously aren’t straight, you’re obviously not this straighted-laced girl, but there’s something interesting about the fact that you aren’t any of those things and we now want to change the character.’”
